Canton Galva’s softball season comes back strong this season with a team full of returners as well as a few new players.

While Coach Gloria Colgin is brand new to this team, she has a team full of experienced girls. In addition to two returning seniors, Ashton Brewer and Jill Ross-Mason, the team has six juniors including top returners Jayci Mastrie, Megan Maltbie, Lexi Burch, Carissa Klatt and Taryn Norstrom. Three freshmen join the team as key players.

“As a first year head coach, I am working on finding the best rotation for each scenario and have the best group out there at a given time,” said Colgin. “We have a good group of girls. I feel we can mix and match and have multiple options. It's just finding those options.”

The Eagles look to get better everyday both individually and as a team. The goal is to improve so much so that at the end of the season they can have a strong, working team. They are focusing on being better today than they were yesterday.

The biggest challenge will be having a new coach with new ideas, but Colgin is determined to help them learn from each other.

“We're changing the mind set to not settling,” said Colgin.

The Eagles plated Sedgwick on April 2. They play Marion next at 4:30 p.m. on April 9.
